ResumenBackground: Asparagales stands out for its economic importance and for being the most diverse among monocots. However, although there are studies on some families of the order, there are few floristic studies on this group in Mexico and no records for the state of Tamaulipas, particularly in the Altas Cumbres protected natural area. Question: What is the richness, diversity and distribution of the order Asparagales in the Altas Cumbres Natural Protected Area? Species studied: Asparagales. Study sites and dates: Protected natural area Altas Cumbres, from 2022 to 2023. Methods: Botanical material was collected and identified, and afloristic inventory was compiled, complemented by online records of herbarium specimens. The Margalef and Shannon index were estimated. Species distribution was examined using similarity analysis. Results: A total of 35 genera and 58 species were recorded. The groups with the greatest diversity were the Orchidaceae family and the Agave genus. The Margalef and Shannon index were 8.73 and 3.48, respectively, for the entire area, with the oak forest being the most diverse. Most species are distributed between elevations of 800 and 1,799 m. The greatest floristic similarity, 20 \%, was observed between the oak forest and the rosette scrub. Conclusions: The Altas Cumbres natural protected area serves as an important reservoir for the order Asparagales due to its richness and diversity, and its best representation is found in oak and pine-oak forests.es_ES
