ResumenThis article presents the design and validation of the Artificial Intelligence Tools Appropriation Scale for Students (EAHIA-E), aimed at measuring AI appropriation in Mexican higher education. The validation was carried out with 903 undergraduate students from the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas, enrolled in six social sciences programs (ages 18–29). Tests of normality, internal consistency (global α = .948), and Loevinger’s scalability were performed, confirming the reliability of the instrument. Confirmatory factor analysis reported satisfactory fit indices (χ²/df = 4.4; RMSEA = .061; CFI = .942), supporting the structural validity of the model. The EAHIA-E is a robust instrument to diagnose the level of technological appropriation, providing innovative indicators that can guide comparative research and institutional policies for the critical and responsable use of artificial intelligence in higher educationes_ES
