Abstract
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections are a global health problem. In Mexico, HIV/AIDS is among the most prevalent infectious diseases in the border region and has been linked to migrant populations. The conditions under which the process occurs are unfavorable and increase the likelihood that they will resort to risky sexual behaviors such as sex with casual partners, multiple partners, sex with sex workers, and inconsistency in condom use, among others. And they are the result of various factors that influence the response of migrants to favor or inhibit them. Few studies have included only some of these factors and others have used models and theories, but are not specific to sexual behavior; therefore, a nursing model for immigrant sexual risk behaviors is considered an appropriate element for the study of this phenomenon with Transitions Theory. Nursing discipline models allow representations and descriptions of a set of concepts to be done, which is an explanation of the relationships between the models and a prediction of the associated results between these relationships. This model can be used in any type of immigrant population because it considers cultural characteristics and can be adapted for specific sexual behavior.
