Child labor: Violations of children’s human rights in Mexico

ResumenThe purpose of this research was to analyze child labor and human rights violations against children in Mexico. The methodology is a case study, with a quantitative and descriptive approach, which was carried out at the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas (UAT) in Mexico, chosen for the experience of collaborators in human rights projects. The research statistically analyzes the knowledge and interest of law students in the legislation that prohibits child labor. With an intentional sample, 160 students from the Victoria School of Law and Social Sciences were surveyed using Google Forms. The results show: a) In Mexico, despite prohibitive laws, factors such as poverty and lack of education make it difficult to eradicate child labor in order to strengthen human rights training and develop public policies to address these structural causes. It is concluded that the majority of students have solid knowledge of national and international human rights standards and do not trust the State to resolve the violations generated by child labor.es_ES
