ResumenIntroduction. Alcohol dependence is a health problem, with multiple consequences such as conflict and family suffering. Objective. To determine the relationship and effect of spirituality and social support with the psychological and social well-being of the main family of the person dependent on alcohol. Method. A quantitative study, correlational and predictive design, census type sample, data were collected through the application of the Social Support Instrument MOSSS, Reed Spiritual Perspective Scale, Ryff Psychological Well-being Scale and Keyes Social Welfare Scale. Results. Spirituality showed a positive and significant relationship with psychological well-being (rs = .506, p < .01) and social well-being (rs = .323, p < .01). Both spirituality and social support proved to be predictors of psychological and social well-being with a coefficient of determination of 56.0% and 40.7%, respectively. Conclusion. Social support acts as an effective coping mechanism for the achievement of psychosocial well-being in relatives of people dependent on alcohol. Therefore, it is considered important that the nurse practitioner participate actively in the social support network through providing information and emotional support to relatives of people with this problem.es_ES
