Abstract
Introduction:Alcohol is the most consumed legal drug worldwide, even during pregnancy. Consuming alcohol increases the chances of morbidity in the newborn. Objective:was to know the pregnant women alcohol consumption. Method:The design was descriptive and correlational; the population, pregnant women from a public health. Through convenience sampling (n = 130). Results:A Personal Data Card and the AUDIT were used; adhered to the General Health Law on Health Research. Data analysis was performed with the StatisticalPackage for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0. The mean age was 21.75 years (SD = 5.641). The 44.6\% were pregnant women under 20 years of age. The mean age at which alcohol consumption began was 15.84 years (SD = 2.354). Conclusions:It was found that, the younger the age of the pregnant woman, the greater the alcohol consumption before pregnancy (rs = -.188, p < .05); and a statistically significant relationship with alcohol consumption before and during pregnancy (rs = .339, p = .001)
