Abstract
This paper investigates the feasibility of using compact antennas for the non-invasive detection of dysnatremia. The study proposes a sensing system where antennas operating from 5 GHz to 5.1 GHz are placed on the human neck adjacent to the jugular vein. Through simulation, the performance of the antenna is evaluated in scenarios representing hyponatremia (low sodium) and hypernatremia (high sodium). The analysis of S-parameters, radiation pattern, and Specific Absorption Rate values demonstrates the potential of this microwave sensing approach for diagnosing blood sodium imbalances.
