Effect of Pterophylla beltrani Bolivar \& Bolivar Ethanolic Extract Applied as Coating on Mature Strawberries

Abstract

Pterophylla beltrani Bolivar and Bolivar is an insect rich in various metabolites, with nutritional and nutraceutical potential. In this work a possible use of the ethanolic extract of this insect as a coating on strawberries is presented, which avoid fungal growth on fruit surfaces, compared with 60\% of control strawberries where fungi developed. The ethanolic extract did not alter the pH of degrees Brix of strawberries.
