Abstract
Introduction: The relationship between sexual sexism and depression in women is an area of research that has become less explored compared to previous decades. However, there is evidence suggesting that certain sexist attitudes may contribute to the development of depressive disorders in women. Objective: To determine the correlation of sexual sexism on depression in young women. Method: A predictive and crosssectional correlational design was employed, with a sample of 177 participants aged 18 to 24 years. The Sexual Sexism Scale and the Beck Inventory were used for variable measurement. Results: Predictive values were observed (beta= .19, F {[}1, 175] = 6.97, p= .009), Aindicating that sexual sexism is a risk factor for depression. Conclusion: This study makes a valuable contribution by exploring the relationship between the mentioned variables. The current findings underscore the importance of addressing sexism as a potential risk factor for the mental health of women.
