Abstract

Introduction: The main cause of cervical cancer is the Human Papillomavirus, occupying fourth place. Vaccination against this virus has been implemented for more than 10 years and in more than 90 countries, however, there are barriers among parents that reduce its acceptance. Objective: to identify parents' barriers to Human Papillomavirus vaccination in their underages daughters at the beginning of vaccine promotion. Method: A systematic review was carried out in PubMed, Ebsco and Ovid, based on the PRISMA statement and steps proposed by Holly, Salmon and Saimbert (2016). The articles were selected with a rubric of inclusion criteria, and the results were synthesized, narrated and tabulated in an Excel table. Results: total of 8 articles included, the main barriers of parents were side effects, lack of information and beliefs, accessibility, lack of recommendation from health providers, promotion of promiscuity, culture and inadequate advice. Conclusion: Knowing the barriers helps to improve existing prevention strategies to prevent this virus.
