Abstract

For a little over a decade, the issue of insecurity has been considered as the main issue that most worries Mexican families. Mexico has hosted several violent scenarios that have influenced over the position of the population under generalized situations of violence, where victimization and perception of vulnerability has been increasing. According to official data, the year 2018 has been characterized as the most violent in the last decade, kidnappings, forced disappearances, disappearances committed by individuals, homicides, has been the main crimes that have proliferated. Under this context, this analysis has been prepared based on the national survey: Encuesta Nacional de Victimización y Percepción sobre Inseguridad Pública (ENVIPE), in order to provide an overview on the victimization and perception of criminal violence, as well as the change in dynamics that have affected Mexican families that occurred in the country during the years 2011 to 2018.
