Determinants of credit and financial inclusion in women heads of household in Mexico
Abstract
The article contributes to studies on financial inclusion by delving deeper into the traditional approach and analyzing the access to credit and financial services of women heads of household in Mexico, a fundamental issue for their economic autonomy. The main objective was to establish the determining factors of access to credit at the national level during 2021, using a logistic model. A solid literary review is used; The main barriers and proposals to promote financial inclusion are identified. Microdata from the National Financial Inclusion Survey of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography-Mexico are used. A positive impact of education and income on the probability of obtaining credit is evident; while there is an inverse relationship with savings and income stability. In this sense, the effect of receiving government support is estimated, although not with an acceptable level of statistical significance. The results enrich the existing literature and highlight the importance of these factors and possible extensions in future research, as well as in the design of effective financial inclusion policies. In conclusion, a comprehensive vision of the challenges and opportunities, as well as the need for financial programs on credit and financial inclusion, is offered.
